  3. But when I do this it removes all syntax highlighting, whereas opening vim normally highlighting is okay. It’s a brazen mystery.

  6. When I do as suggested mc opens nano instead (Kubuntu) though vim is installed.

  7. The solution:
    sudo update-alternatives –config editor
